Schoolies say:
- “Thanks SU for the holiday I always wanted, my friends and I won’t ever forget it”
- “I was real scared as I only knew one other person, but before the first day ended I had made so many new friends – some will be friends forever!”
- “Backflip was wild! I hope I can go back to the Islands one day”
- “What an easy way to have schoolies – you (SU) did everything, I just had to turn up”
- “Nonstop - activities, sun/fun, good food, time of a life was what I was sold – you delivered”
Parents say:
- “Over the last few years I have watched SU Schoolies become a viable option for school leavers seeking alternatives to the usual Gold Coast scene. My own children have attended the Backflip trip which gave them a great experience sailing the Whitsundays. A drug and alcohol free event that’s fully supervised by competent Youth Workers, it certain made the week stress free for us.”
- “After having one teenager attend the Gold Coast for schoolies and hear all her disappointment after the week (not to mention my anxiety levels), we looked for other alternatives for the next. SU schoolies was bought to our attention via the high school Chaplain. My son was sold after he saw the activities; I was sold when I saw they were accompanied by leaders who were looking out for them. The end result was he had an amazing week he won’t forget, and I slept well every night.”
A principal said:
“Scripture Union is commended for their initiative in offering such programs as their Schoolies Events, their support of our youth is appreciated! The events are excellent which provide schoolies with a time of celebration, challenge and opportunity for personal development. These drug and alcohol free events send such a positive message that ‘fun can be had without excess/dangerous behaviours’.”
